Alex Beattie
A printmaker and textile artist, living and working in North London. Exhibited in the Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy.
Each work unfolds a mythical dreamscape, constructed from multiple hand-drawn elements to create a graphic unity. They’re brought to the page through a printmaking process that builds up layers of transparent colour and gold leaf to produce lush, dense vibrancy.
Inspiration comes from everything and anything – Byzantine mosaic to socialist poster art; Cimabue to instant ramen; Hokusai to videogames.
