Balthazar Mattar
Balthazar Mattar is a typewriting, paint daubing, free jazz loving artist living and working in and around the fertile cultures of south east London.
All of his typewriter pieces contain unique observations from his imagination, tapped out onto pristine watercolour paper late into the night.
All of his paintings are done straight onto rough grain paper, automatic imaging, a direct feed from the false idols of patriotism pulsating behind his eyes, through his fingertips and along the hair of his brush.
All of his creative actionism is executed by a brain stimulated by any music up to the task. When not caught up in the heady and indulgent experience of visual art he can be found writing, recording and performing with his bands Kiss Me Poly and Glass Disguise.
For his Art Car Boot Fair debut, he is making available for the first time his paintings from the 'Walls and Fences' series. Created over the lockdown and in the wake of Brexit, they feel prescient and entirely appropriate for this 'Queen and Country' themed event.
