Charlotte Farmer is a screenprinter and illustrator with a love of colour and fine detail. Specialising in illustration at Central Saint Martins, Charlotte’s vibrant and playful screenprints retain a sense of storytelling and humour that encompass her distinctive style.
Her multi-layered prints often involve collections; from snowglobes, pottery figures or matchboxes, to tropical birds and animals. As well as conjuring a sense of nostalgia and memory, the collections bring together unexpected combinations of objects and characters that begin to speak to each other, developing unforeseen ‘mini’ narratives in the work. “I love the drama of it all! In my Paprika Tins ‘Hot Stuff’ print you’ve got a moustachioed man holding a plate of fish next to a young Hungarian girl collecting her paprika, and I think to myself, ‘What are they saying to each other?’”
