Isabel Bannerman was born in London in 1962. She works with her husband as a garden designer and gardener and she also takes photographs, makes images and writes books and journalism related to gardens and sometimes photography and art.
She has been making plant based images on her flatbed scanner since 2003 and has had several gallery shows, with work sold to collectors such as Jasper Conran and Evgeny Lebdev.
Her big subject is smell and her book Scent Magic (2019) uses her images to illustrate a memoir with information on flowers and smell. The follow up born of this is an anthology of scented and sensual plant related poetry and prose called The Star Nosed Mole (Sept 2021, Pimpernel Press).
