Jennifer Binnie
Jennifer Binnie has been a painter for most of her life and has developed a personal language of expression through using paint. Born to creative parents she grew up in semi rural East Sussex and enjoyed 5 years studying fine art in Eastbourne and Portsmouth. Jennifer is a co founder of the Neo naturist cabaret/ performance art group which evolved out of the 1980’s London art/fashion/ squat /club scene.
The Neo naturists were both part of and a reaction against this scene. Since the late 1980’s, Jennifer has lived in East Sussex where she continues to paint on canvases, objects, walls and bodies. Recent exhibitions and events have included collaborations with Christine Binnie and Wilma Johnson as the Neo naturists (Studio Voltaire 2016) and with Christine Binnie (Towner, Eastbourne, 2021)
Jennifer’s current work is based in her studio in Hastings and is drawing on reflective memories and her interest in nature and animals, life’s cycles, the real world and other worlds.
