Working predominately as a painter, Phillip Reeves is a graduate at Goldsmiths, MFA Fine Art (2018) and is currently based in London where he is participating in the Turps Studio Program for painters. Prior to that, Reeves participated in the student directed alternative MA course - School of The Damned (2016), where Reeves worked in performance and film.
Recent studies aside, Reeves’ solo exhibitions include ‘Get Up’ at Contre-Bande, Marseille (2020), and ‘Sausage Pile Up’ at Vesterbro Showrooms, Copenhagen (2017) which later toured to Cabaret Voltaire, Zurich (2019) and Exposed Art Projects, London (2019)
Residencies include Husk, London (2019) and away from London, Reeves spent time living and working in New York at The Arts Students League (2012/13) as well as the Embassy of Foreign Artists, Geneva (2014). Awards include Winner of The Jealous Art Prize (2019), nomination for The Graduate Art Prize (2018), Winner of The Wytham Hall Painting Prize (2018), Shortlisted for The Denton’s Art Prize (2017), Recipient of Artist Scholarship from Canton of Geneva (2014), and The Elizabeth V. Sullivan Scholarship from The Arts Students League of New York (2012). At time of writing, Reeves is currently shortlisted for The Jackson’s Painting Prize (2021).
