Sarah Duncan draws inspiration from nature, landscape, and the cyclical patterns of our planet to create masterful monochrome etchings and painstaking original drawings. Seeking beauty in the realms of science, astronomy and geology, her subject matters are composed of key elements that make up the natural world – water, stars, ice and snow. However, underlying this are the activities that affect the planet’s fragile equilibrium.
“My practice has always had a strong link to the natural world, and during these times of enforced change, I have found it restorative and inspirational in spending time outside. Noticing the cyclical nature of our planet. I want to convey these emotions through my practice. Not only about the fragility of life, but also its ability to cling on and thrive. My thoughts have also turned to key environmental challenges we will face post-pandemic."
