Hannah Brown (b. 1977) lives and works in London. She has an MA in Sculpture from RCA and has had solo shows at Cross Gallery in Dublin and Union Gallery in London.
The piece was made as part of a series of oil sketches in response to the Tower Hamlets council decision to close Victoria Park; a result of visitors breaching government social distancing guidelines. Brown had encountered the park everyday and the painting is a visual reference of the eerily empty space she no longer had access to, as observed from the outskirts of the park during her daily route. Brown was shortlisted for The John Moores Painting Prize in 2020 and for the Whitechapel Open in 2018.
