Julie Caves is a London and Margate based artist and curator. She has a BFA from the University of Texas, graduated with an MA from Camberwell College of Art, completed an Erasmus term in Valencia, Spain, and most recently completed the 2-year Turps Studio Painting Programme in 2019. She has a certificate in Independent Curating from Central St Martins.
She was shortlisted for two prizes in 2019: The Delphian Prize and the Exceptional Award. She recently curated two painting exhibitions in London: ‘Waving in the Distance’, at Terrace Gallery in 2020 and ‘A Break in the Clouds’ at Winns Gallery in 2021. She has had two recent solo shows: ‘Lost in the Woods’ at The Stone Space gallery in London in 2021 and ‘Shimmy’ at The Lido Stores in Margate in 2022. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions in London and Margate and in ‘A Generous Space’ at Hastings Contemporary in 2022.
Julie Caves is a painter interested in sunlit spaces and suggested, ambiguous objects. She has recently returned to also making ceramic sculpture.
