02/05/2021 ART WEARABLES!

ART WEARABLES!

Now that we’re all thankfully able to get out and about more and visit friends, bars and of course galleries again we thought we’d take the chance to highlight that in addition to all the fantastic new prints, photographs, sculptures, paintings and objects that will be launching at the Art Car Boot Fair’s Flora & Fauna Edition on May 15, there will also be several incredible pieces so you can wear your art on your sleeve, emblazoned across your chest and even on your face!

3XBLESSED @ACBF2021

We’re very excited about Beatrice Brown’s new fashion collaboration with Rosie Maclean

Alongside a stunning array of new works on paper and giclee print editions Beatrice Brown presents her new concept 3XBLESSED. Launching a showcase collection of extraterrestrial clothing in collaboration with artist designer Rosie Mclean. Expect organic hand customised hoodies and Tees and unique bespoke pieces, ultra natural images by Beatrice Brown and stunning detail and artistry from Rosie McLean.  ROSIE MCLEAN says 'I am interested in the relationships between the body as a decorated object, expression of power and the unconscious and conscious mind. As a designer I make couture lingerie and costume verging on the sculptural. I bead-weave glass lace and frequently use found objects. Some themes which recur in my artistic work are the natural world, ritual, seduction, the grotesque, abjection and transcendence.’ We’ll share some images with you as soon as we have the and meanwhile look out for Maria Alvarez’s fascinating and insightful interview with Beatrice Brown that we’ll be posting here later this week.

 HORN PLEASE!

'HORN PLEASE!' is the alter-ego of print artist Alex Beattie, with designs that are utopian mash-ups of inspiration from Byzantine mosaics to B-movie sci-fi, and from video games to socialist poster art. Every tee and sweat is individually screen-printed with six or seven overprinted screens, layered precisely so they blend to produce the final image.  Each design features a different language provided by a friend here in London – but the message is the same on all of them.  BLOW YOUR HORN and MAKE YOUR NOISE!  Say what needs to be said! These are super high quality, made to last and to stand out in a crowd. Alex’s wondrous and intricate new print editions will also be launching at the ACBF and so we recommend you beat a path to his Artists Page on the 15th.

CHOOSE ART

We delighted to welcome the Contemporary Art Society into our line-up for the first time this year. For those that are unaware, The Contemporary Art Society champions the collecting of outstanding contemporary art and craft in the UK. Since 1910 the charity has donated over 12,000 works by living artists to museums, from Picasso, Bacon, Hepworth and Moore in their day, through to the influential artists of our times. As well as presenting unique works by Do Ho Suh, Gillian Wearing and John Stezaker, we’re really pleased that they have extended the run of their hugely successful CHOOSE ART collaboration with Katherine Hamnett London who has designed an exclusive new T-shirt and badge to support the work of the CAS. Both the T-shirt and badges have been manufactured to the highest ethical and environmental standards and look pretty damn good too!

LADY MUCK

Lady Muck is the brassy northern alter ego of a London based outsider artist whose work ranges from text-based embroidery and paper-mache to defaced bank notes and art cars! Her provocative phrases on embroidered badges have been a favourite of Art Car Boot Fairs going back over the last decade  - sometimes radical, always rebellious and occasionally just a little bit twisted!

WILMA JOHNSON

Wilma is a founder of the neo-naturist movement and her paintings and performances have been seen all over the world. She launched her first edition of ‘Rubber Gloves Not to Wash Up In’ at the Art Car Boot Fair at Kings Cross in 2018 and they quickly found themselves on the front page of the Sunday Times and soon after that in the Summer Show a the Royal Academy! Lowly objects elevated to high art by the artists hand!!! We’re ecstatic that Wilma has produced a brand new edition of these wonderful featuring paintings of Fauns specially for our Flora & Fauna Event!

Julia Vogl  - Custom Wearables

Julia Vogl is passionate about colour, pattern and print and her wearable art reflects a series of meditative drawings that she has been doing over the last year. She’ll be producing a range of custom silkscreened wearables using real plants and leaves for our Flora & Fauna edition and we hope to be working with her on some new products later in the year that will appear in the ACBF Shop.
